Blog Hog! :)
I needed a non-diabetic athlete to compare to Jason Johnson, to use as an example to explain how diabetic athletes are able to play as long as non-diabetic ones. Well, I found out that Glendon Rusch was the PERFECT pitcher to use. Go me!
Of course Jay is part of this essay. I'm using Aaron Rodgers as his comparison. But my plan is to use pre-diabetes stats, followed by post diagnosis stats, followed then by diabetic athlete to non-diabetic athlete.
I hope to at least get a B on this paper. A B would keep me at either a B+ or A-. I'll let you guys read it after I get done...
Just remembered something, from the first post of this new blog
My name is Misty. I live in Colorado. I am a big Rockies fan, I am a Jay Cutler fan (but that is a story for a different sport in a different season). Moving on...
The four Rockies I will be reporting on are: Troy Tulowitzki, Chris Iannetta, Ubaldo Jimenez and Jeff Baker. The non-Rockie that I follow is Evan Longoria, although I've been neglecting him...
About my four Rockies:
Troy Trevor Tulowitzki- October 10, 1984
Position: Shortstop
Bats: right
Throws: right
Jersey number: 2
Major League Debut: August 30, 2006
Random Fact(s): One of his teammates in college was Evan Longoria, and on April 29, 2007 Troy became the thirteenth man to turn an unassisted triple play.
Christopher Domenic Iannetta- April 8, 1983
Position: Catcher
Bats: right
Throws: right
Jersey number: 20
Major League Debut: August 27, 2006
Random Fact: Played third base for one game last season (April 29, 2008) because of an injury to Troy Tulowitzki.
Ubaldo Jimenez- January 22, 2984
Position: Pitcher
Bats: right
Throws: right
Jersey number: 38
Major League Debut: September 26, 2006
Random Fact: Ubaldo can throw a fastball in the high 90s.

Jeffrey Glen Baker- June 21, 1983
Position: Utility player, sometimes second baseman
Bats: right
Throws: right
Jersey number: 10
Major League Debut: April 4, 2005
Random Fact(s): Shares his birthday with Prince William, was born in Germany.

Evan Michael Longoria- October 7, 1985
Position: 3rd base
Team: Tampa Bay Rays
Bats: right
Throws: right
Jersey number: 3
Major League Debut: April 12, 2008
Random Fact(s): Was AL Rookie of the Year for 2008; plays third base because in college Troy played short already, so he got moved to third base.
No picture of Evan taken by me... Yet.
And even though I haven't gotten approval for this, while Jeff Baker is on the DL, I'll be tracking Ian Stewart. He's become a new favorite of mine.

This one I'm just gonna post the link for this one... Short hair, no facial hair is a good look on Ian.

Game Day... And I was there!
I got to Coors really early, well early enough to check out BP. I didn't go anywhere that I could get a ball, just got tons of pictures of Chris, Troy, Clint and Ian. (This time I had lots and lots and lots of pictures of Ian.) I also when to the Rockies store. I purchased a copy of the Rockies Magazine. There are some personal pics of the guys and there is a feature on Huston Street. It's awesome. I got one for Katie also.
Before I go on, I want to mention that Jeff Baker is on the 15 day DL because of a hand sprain (?) or wrist sprain. Either way, I will be following Ian Stewart until Jeffy comes back.
I was in section 147, row 20, seat 9. I loved these seats so much. They are totally awesome. Of course I just love being at Coors Field period. It's so funny, I don't drink; I think that Coors is gross. Yet, I love Coors Field. Coors Field is the only thing I love about Coors.
Ok, game time...
The line-up was "Dex", "Sef Smif" (aka-Seth Smith), "Spilly", Helton, "Stewie", "Tulo", "Barmie", "Netta" and "Cookie". And let me just say, Cookie was awesomeness today. Anyway, the first inning, Cook pitched just 6 pitches I believe. The boys came up and battled. Then it was back to defense. Cook got out of the inning quickly again. Then the boys were back on offense.
I can't remember everything exactly, but I do remember that Troy got caught too far from first and was out. Then with Stewart on third Chris hit a Homerun! (I was on the phone with my finance counselor when this happened. We just hung up as Chris rounded the bases.)
Anyway, just about my boys:
Chris was 2-4: 1 homerun, 3 RBIs, 2 runs. His average is now at .176; and improving.
Troy was 2-4: 1 run, no RBIs. Troy got his average back up to .200. He's improving, slowly but at least his average is rising. (The best news, no injury! Thinking of last season. Unfortunately, no amazing feats either.)
--Totally random but for the month of April Chris and Troy have the same amount of HRs and RBIs.--
Ian was 0-1: 1 run, no RBIs, 2 walks.
--After his homerun today, Chris, Ian and Troy all have 3 homeruns a piece.--
Also totally random, Ian is cute. Just wanted to share. I mean, I got all of the baseball stuff out of the way, so gushing is ok now.
Picture time... My pictures... All taken by me!

Good News On Hawpe!
Medical Reports Positive on Hawpe
Brad Hawpe has received encouraging medical news.
What was a feeling of concern when Hawpe intially was injured in Monday night’s game against the Padres turned into a feeling of relief on Tuesday.
Hawpe is described as having suffered a contusion on his right neck. He is not expected to be placed on the disabled list and could return to the lineup by the weekend.
A concussion was ruled out by the doctors.
Hawpe was hit in the right side of the neck, just below the batting helmet, by a throw from Padres catcher Nick Hundley, who was attempting to pick Hawpe off second base. Hawpe was diving back into the bag when he was hit.
Initially Hawpe laid motionaless. Eventually a neck brace was placed on Hawpe as a precautionary move, and he was driven off the field and taken, by ambulance, to Rose Medical Center where a CT scan of his head and neck came back negative. He was released before midnight, returned to Coors Field and then spent the night at home.
All I can say is THANK GOD! I have been worried about poor Bradley all day! It is such a relief to know that he is okay. I can only imagine how his family was feeling when he got taken off the field. Let us all hope for a speedy recovery for one of our best players so far this season!!
In other news, I am sure you all saw Jacoby Ellsbury steal home the other night. I think Fowler needs to give that a shot. I'm serious. lol

Rockies Win!

They won! They won!
Wow, that win felt really good didn't it?
And really, how AWESOME was Jason Marquis? I love that he hits. It makes me so happy! I love when pitchers help themselves out!
And Clint Barmes had another home run! And so did Spilly!
We need to play like this against the Padres. I HATE being in last place.
Come on boys keep it up!!
Picture from here.
Hot Photos, I love Christian Petersen and Andy Hayt Rogers

Gotta give a shout out
Of course, I didn't get to watch the game because I am cursed to work every weekend until June :( I think I'm going to have to cave in and get cable. I miss watching the games. I never know what's going on and who has done what (unless I read your posts and the Rockies website).
I need to get to more games. I miss my season ticket :( Damn nursing school, damn economy, damn nursing school.
Katie, congrats on your acceptance to CU Denver :D We'll be glad to have you around more often :) *That means more ROCKIES games!*
April 24th and April 25th
I took about 200 pictures. There is one that I took today by total accident, I kept it just for Kap.
Anyway, back to the games...
Friday, April 24th, 2009: I was only able to be there for 6 and a half innings. I had to leave during the 7th inning stretch because of my friends. One was tired and the other was cold. They were my ride home, so I had to leave. I didn't want to go, but I was given no choice.
The (official) players of mine that were out there were Chris and Troy. The other player (unofficial) was Ian Stewart. He was at second, in place of Clint.
The Rockies lost, but I gave myself a no decision on game attendance win/loss record. The no decision comes from leaving early. (If I could have stayed, I would have.)
The game started out bad. The ending was not much better. By the way, I sat in section 146, row 9. The seats were awesome.
Anyway, Chris got two knocks. He even was a run. He raised his average to .139, which is a good thing. Troy walked 4 times, which is a career high for him! He showed a lot of patience. I was pleased with him. Troy's average wasn't affected that much. Jeff Baker pinch hit and well, it wasn't anything special.
I apologize for all of the butt shots, but I was behind them, so...
Ian and Troy...
Jeff Baker...
Chris Iannetta...
Look, we have two first basemen...
And we have Cutie Tulowitzki...
April 25th, 2009:
Bad, super bad, start to the game. 4 runs in the first inning. Yuck!
Today was Ubaldo's start. It was cold. Our seats were up in the 300 area. But we were behind homeplate, Section 329, Row 10.
Chris didn't play, so my guys tonight were Troy and Ubaldo. Clint played today at second. (So Katie, I got pictures. They're not the best, but they're your boy.)
Troy's average is .176, not the best but he could be worse. Ubaldo got the lost.
Here are some pictures from today...
James Loney... For you Katie Andre Ethier is a Cutie Pie...
Ian Stewart...
Troy, just chillin'...
Ubaldo making an "adjustment"... (I don't know why, I don't know how, but I keep getting pictures of the boys making these "adjustments".)
And yesterday I gave our blog address to a girl sitting behind me, so I hope she checks it out. I think her name was Alicia. (If I'm wrong, let me know...)

Movie Report: Observe and Report
Where to start? The previews for the movie are pretty much the funniest parts of the movie. I was very disappointed. However, I don't think this movie is really intended to be incredibly funny. I feel like the movie was making fun of white trash, but it took it so far that you ended up feeling incredibly sympathetic to Rogen's character. At some points of the movie, I felt like people were laughing at parts where they shouldn't be. I can't laugh at other people's expense, especially when it deals with life circumstance and someone is trying to change their life....
Rogen's character wanted to be known in society, wanted to be a "hero" and had several issues, including bipolar disorder. He was in love with a hooker (she wasn't literally a hooker, but I call all dirty women hookers) who irritated me, and that's sad considering I love Anna Faris. I really hated her in this movie.
I am definitely a person who can laugh at anything and everything, but when it's an issue that is important to me (the issues addressed in this movie are important to me because I'm lame), then I can't really laugh at it, I guess. I guess I just sympathized and empathized with Rogen's character too much. His mother is an alcoholic in the movie and she passes out on the floor at night and sleeps there. She even tells Rogen's character that she blames him for his father walking out because he had "special needs" as a child and his father couldn't handle it. She tells him that she's going to stop drinking.....hard liquor and switch to beer because she "can slam them all day and still have her shit together." WTF? That's not funny. AT ALL.
I should stop now because I'm just ranting about how much I disliked this movie. Don't sell it as a comedy if it's not a comedy. Plus, there's nothing more disgusting than having to watch a chunky exhibitionist flash his junk. It was really gross. I'm talking full-frontal nudity running through a mall. *vomits*
All I'm trying to tell you ladies is don't go see this movie. Don't waste your money.
Bad News Alert!
I can't find an article or anything about this yet. But I don't think I need to tell you all how upset I am by this.
:(
No Baseball Today

So what should you do with your time? Should you do house work, or homework? Or anything else that may be considered productive?
No. You should not.
You should watch Friday Night Lights.
Not the movie, although that is good too, but the TV show.
If you haven't watched this at all, I must tell you, you are missing out on some great dramatic TV!
The show is set in the football-obsessed town of Dillon, Texas. It follows the lives of the head coach and his players, along with their families, friends and love interests. It is much more than a show about football, and it sucks you in from the get-go. It is full of interesting characters, all who I feel have been developed pretty well. I have found myself literally yelling at the TV while watching, but that is because I'm weird. I yell at the characters, I cheer for the team during games...what can I say? I am obsessed.
The football games are all a bit dramatic, and almost all of them come down to the final minutes. There is so much drama that goes on, both on the field and off, and at times it may be a bit unrealistic. But it is such good drama! Plus there is a character for everyone's taste. You find yourself rooting for them to succeed in school, in love and in sports. My favorite character is the brooding bad-boy Tim Riggins, played by one of my main-men Taylor Kitsh. In the first few episodes he comes off as a complete ass, but the more you watch you just can't help but love Tim. Shout out to Shelbi who likes the adorable quarter back Matt Saracen! And ladies, the dudes on this show are HOT! hehe

Anyway, I am happy to tell you that the entire season 1 and season 2 are on www.hulu.com, so you really have no excuse not to watch now. Haha. My favorite episode is from season 1, called Mud Bowl. So yeah, watch this show! Even if you don't love football it is a good watch, very intriguing, at least for me.
Oh yea....FNL is on NBC! Watch it online here!
Do you already watch FNL? If so who is your favorite character!
