Holliday a Cardinal

Coming off his batting slump with the A's, the newly traded Hot Rox fav, Matt Holliday has had 9 AB's, for 6 hits, 2 rbi's and 2 runs. Not bad considering he only managed 99 hits in 93 games in Oakland.

Keep it up Matt!

This old blog has been neglected

The ESPY's have been, and here are some pics from them!

Mark Sanchez winning the Hot Rookie QB award.

Matthew Stafford, not winning the Hot Rookie QB award, but picking up the Puffy Boy award.

Tim Tebow, looking pretty good, but damn, lose the pleated pants!

Kurt and Brenda Warner. Kurt may have lost the SB, but looking at Big Ben below, he definitely wins the HOT SB QB award.

Just for Katie! Michael Phelps!

The Williams sisters, Serena....

and Venus. I like Serena's dress better. It is very flattering to her muscular figure.

So long...

This is tough, because I don't want feelings to be hurt, but I think it is obvious that this blog is going downhill.

It is nothing like it once was, and Tiffany has already left. I just have to admit it to you all that I no longer want to post here. Which I think is obvious from my lack of doing so lately. I have to be honest and tell you that it is because I feel like I put a lot of effort into my posts and into the blog in general, and I get nothing back.

So...this is my goodbye to this blog that I worked very hard to create. I am going to make my own blog, that is just mine. I will link it here once I create it, then I am going to leave here. I'm sorry...I just feel really frustrated with the posting here.

You other ladies of course can keep it up...don't quit because I did.

Go Rockies and Go Broncos!

EDIT: Here is the link to my new blog: http://at-the-dish.blogspot.com/
I really liked that name so I decided to switch it for my sports blog. There isn't much there now, but I plan to make it as good as I can.

I wanna be a Roxstar!

I was driving home from work tonight and was listening to this song, and it just brought back so many great memories of our post season run, and the fabulous hotness of our Rox!

Oh my goodness...

The Rockies are on a blessed 11 game streak. Today, even with the wannabe base stealing funnel cloud, the Rockies won 7-1. Jason Hammel got the win. That's awesomeness.

Once again, we had everyone contribute. Chris had a base clearing double. That was after an intention walk on Tulo.

Iannetta was 1-4 with 1 run and 3 RBIs. He's batting .220.
Tulo was 0-2 with 1 run, 1 RBI. He's batting .241. Tulo has really made improvements.

On Friday, Ubaldo pitched his second complete game. He was awesome. Ubaldo was 1-2, with an RBI. He's batting at a .286. His pitching stats for the game were 8 hits; with 4 runs, the runs were all earned; 4 walks; 3 strike-outs; and he gave up one homerun.
Stewart did well too. Well, as in he didn't hit anything but he did get hit.

Jeff Baker was hitting off of a tee. So that's good. I'm just not sure if they have room for him, or if the Rockies even need him anymore.

A whole weeks worth

We are currently on a 7 game streak. Everyone has contributed. The boys are busting their butts. I just hope that they keep it going. If the streak ends, I will still love our team. They're working hard.

Let's go ROCKIES!

Make that 5 in a row; Yey Stewart

G finds his swing!!!

2 HR for G and 3 RBI's!

Wooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

Whoa

Did any of you read about Yorvit's son being kidnapped?! I thought that when they pulled him from the game Tuesday that he may have had a family member die or something, but I would have NEVER expected this! I'm glad they've recovered his son. My thoughts are with his son. I can't imagine how traumatic this experience was for him :(

Game Day

Went to the game, last night (May 30) and it was awesome. The Rockies had me worried at times, they were either behind or tied the whole game. Until the very end. The Rockies held the lead when it mattered most. The bottom of the ninth. This was a "Katie" game. I say that because it was about her boys.
My friend and I filled out 41 All-star ballots. Every single one had Todd Helton, Brad Hawpe, Chris Iannetta and Troy Tulowitzki. Not saying it'll help, but it's nice to feel like I've helped a tiny bit. I just finished voting online 10 times. I voted for the Home Run Derby. And I've decided to be funny and write Chris in for the Home Run Derby. There is no chance in heck he'll make it, but it would be funny if he did.

DL Day 2

Today is day 2 one the DL for Chris. I am not sure what kind of rehab is needed for a strained hamstring, so... Let us hope for the sake of the Rockies, that Chris is doing what he needs to so that he can get better quickly. Not that Torrealba isn't great and all, but we need Iannetta's arm. He's a better at throwing out would be base stealers.

Yesterday's loss was horrible. I thought that they would be able to come back but nope. They worked hard to get within one run and then it all fell apart.
At least the Rockies aren't the only team to get their butts handed to them like that. New York Yankees beat the Texas Rangers, 11-1.

In other news

I will ignore the outcome of todays game against the Dodgers, and focus on one thing...

Garrett had a hit and a RBI!

Todd has been doing so well lately, reaching his 200oth career hit and has matched his RBI total of 29 (now at 31 after the Dodgers game)from 2008, when back problems cut his season short.

Todd also leads the Batting AVG, over Hawpe and Dexter Fowler. Hawpe also leads the team in RBI's with Helton in 2nd, and Ian in 3rd.

It really sucks not being able to see any of the games this season. I can't even find any streaming online!

Bad, bad news for my guys

As we should all know, Chris got injured yesterday. Strained hamstring. Well, he was moved to the 15 day DL. His move to the DL is accompanied by Jeff Baker's move to the 60 day DL. So, I get Ian until Jeff gets better. And I will follow Matt Murton as Chris gets better. (It doesn't make the situation better, but a minor word change can change a lot of meaning.)

But before Chris got hurt, he got another HR. Chris leads the Rockies with 8 homeruns.

And I read this in the Rockies magazine, Susan Stewart is pregnant. So Ian is going to be a daddy sometime this year.

In the Big D

I was at the game last night and it was awesome! I didn't get heckled by too many people. I had one older guy come up to me with napkins. He handed them to me and I looked at him and said, "What are these for?!" He responded, while pointing to my Rockies shirt, "you've got a mess on your shirt!" I laughed really hard. He was so nice about it, though. My friends that accompanied me to the game gave me more crap than random Tigers fans. It was such a great time! I didn't realize that they have fireworks every Friday and Saturday night at Comerica Park! I was excited about that. :D

I'll post pics when I'm back in town on Tuesday. I wish I could go to the game today!! Celebrating my graduation with my friends is slightly more important.

I hope all of you are having a great weekend :D

Fun Day!

So today Sarah and I went on a tour of Coors Field. Since they were away, we got to see the entire tour! It was REALLY fun and we got to go into the home dugout! We were also right near the locker room. We also got to go into the visitor's club house. Plus a tour of the suits and club level. We also got to sit in the press area, and I sat at Woody Paige's chair. I was going to try and find Thomas Harding's and sit there but I didn't have time to look for it. Anyway, it was an awesome time! I would post pictures on here but my computer is being really weird and it is freezing whenever I try and do it on here. So since you guys are my friend on facebook, check them out there!

Too bad the Rockies couldn't win today, they had a chance! And Troy finally hit with a runner on base!

We got tickets for the game Tuesday and I am stoked! :D

Sorry....Again

For not posting. I admit it is simply because I am in a funk when it comes to the blog.

But I promise I will try harder starting tomorrow! I will maybe get to my first game of the season on Monday, but I'm not sure since I lack funds. But we'll see!

Some Rockies Pictures... Finally...

Infield Group meeting... Helton, Stewart, Barmes and Atkins

One of the best pictures that I got of Atkins on May 14th. I had seats that made me have to look at a lot of Garrett backside.

This was called a strike because Ian couldn't check his swing. The people behind me said that he didn't go around. Well, this picture proves differently.
I'm sorry Katie... (And you know what I mean...)

The best picture I got of Jason Hammel (or Hammy, as I call him)

Clint in action...

Ok, this was the best picture of Garrett...

I know that Matt is stretching, but he looks like he's trying to fly away...

Ok, this is a way better picture of Clint...

Troy, just chillin' , watchin' the game... He looks so young. I mean, he is young, but he looks really young.

I have no idea what Ian is doing with his mouth... This is just one of those totally random pitcures... Gotta love it.
What in the world is Garrett doing? Once again, random. But it looks funny, the same as Stewart above.

Note to Tiffany, about Chris's walk-up song... \you have the Rockies magazine from April, right? Look on page 18, it'll give you some insight to Chris and the whole walk-up song thing.

NFL Rookie hotness!

Tuesday's game

Last night's game was awesome. I'm so glad that I got cable so I could actually watch the Rockies win a game. Brad Hawpe is amazing. Katie, I see what you're saying now about the whole "confidence" thing :D I wish Atkins was producing. Thomas Harding wrote a great article about this subject and you can read it here. I still think you rock, Atkins. Kim still thinks you rock.

What else? Oh, can someone please figure out Iannetta's at-bat song because I swear I know it, but I can't figure it out. Totally random, I know. The at-bat songs are one of my favorite things about baseball because they give you some type of insight into the player. Am I the only weirdo that thinks that? Psych majors = weird.

I can't wait for tonight's game! My man, Marquis is pitching! I have a feeling Atkins is going to get a hit tonight :D GO ROCKIES!

Stewart and Hawpe lead to a Rockies VICTORY!

Before I talk about last night's game, I just want to mention that on Saturday, before the game, the batting averages of my three (Ian being one of those three) were Iannetta: .212; Tulo: .211; and Ian was at .210. That was awesome...

Now: Tulo has an average of .248. Iannetta has an average of .213. Stewart has an average of .211.

Troy is on fire.

The stats for last night...
Troy: 2-4, 2 runs, 0 RBIs, 1 SO
Chris: 1-4, 0 RBIs, 1 SO
Ian: 2-4, 2 runs, 5 RBIs, 2 SO, 2 HRs. One of his homeruns was a solo shot. The other homerun was a GRAND SLAM!

Brad Hawpe was 4-4 with a homerun and 5 RBIs also!

And just a scruff note: Chris shaved and so did Ian.

And one more piece of information: With Ian's two homeruns, he ties with Chris for leading the Rockies in Homeruns. They both have six! And amazingly Troy is in third with five.

Ubaldo beats the Big Unit!

Three HR's (Matt Murton, Yorvit Torrealba and Tood Helton) and a tidy 7 innings from Ubaldo (just 1 run given up) gave the Rockies an 11-1 win over the Giants and Randy Johnson.

Helton's 3-4 outing, and HR take his average up to .360 for the season, while Ubaldo lay down a bunt to advance 2 walked runners, with Yorvit driven home by a sac fly from Dexter Fowler.

RBI's for plenty of players: 2 for Clint, Dexter, and Yorvit, with one a piece for Todd, Troy, Murton, Ubaldo and Seth Smith!

Read the full story here on the Rockies official site!

Yorvit getting congratulated by Clint after his solo HR.

Matt Murton hitting his solo HR.

Tood follows the path of his HR.

What a game!

As previously mentioned, a lot, Chris hit a Grand Slam tonight, which boosted the Rockies to their 9-6 win against the Padres. Chris is awesome.
Tulo did not do too bad. I am pleased with his last at bat. Now, why would I be pleased with him hitting into a double play that ends the top of the 9th? I am pleased with how he handled himself after the AB, when he didn't make it onto base. He almost threw his helmet, but he didn't. He kept his cool. I think he may have said damn and he was angry, but he didn't throw a tantrum. Congrats Tulo!
Ok, onto real facts. The important stuff: stats!
Tulo: 1-3 the double in the 2nd; 2 runs, 2 RBIs and one walk. His average is at .213.
Iannetta: 2-4 one of those being his Grand Slam; 1 run, 4 RBIs and wasn't even walked. That surprises me, he normally can draw out at least one walk. His average has gone up to .196.
A note about Chris's GS. That was his second career GS. I was there to witness his first one and I witnessed the second one. Chris is awesome! (I missed Tulo GS last year because I was watching football.)

Ian Stewart was thrown in at third at the end of the game. For the bottom of the ninth he was out there. Big whoop. According to Thomas Harding, Ian Stewart is slumping. I know the reason why Ian is slumping, me. Ok, that's not the real reason, but I'm just trying to be funny. Here's that article: Slumping Stewart given work day. Thanks Thomas!

Article about tonight's game: Iannetta's grand slam buoys Rox- Troy Renck, Denver Post

What a start!

RBI's for Troy(2), Clint and G, bases loaded and 2 outs!

Correia has given up 6 hits, 4 runs and walked 3!

Kick Padre butt guys!

EDIT: Arrggghhh, Jorge, you're killing me! Throwing error and 3 runs off 2 hits!

EDIT: Thanks to Chris Ianetta's GRand Slam, we won 9-6, and Taco Bell has to pay out! THis also drops San Diego to the bottom of the NL West!

MIsty, you'll be happy to know Chris's avg is up to .196!

I Never Post Pics

So, I thought I'd post this one of Atkins that I found here. It was taken by Ezra Shaw.

Thoughts on Today's Game....

I didn't get to watch most of it since I was at work. I was stunned to see that it was 0-0 when I finally tuned it at the top of the 6th. Then we made it to the 10th inning still 0-0, until SF got the walk-off single. What's going on with Manny Corpas? Can we give Huston Street another try? I'd much rather see him destroy the game. I feel so bad for Hammel. He pitched a beautiful six innings and then Corpas destroys it. I get so angry when that happens. I miss the Corpas of 2007.

On a high note, Atkins made a killer play today. You can catch it here

I think I'm going to get cable, so I can watch the boys. It's hard for me to contribute to the blog when I can't catch any of the games all the way through and without interruptions! I'm looking forward to your posts :D

Mile High Sports

Just an FYI for those of you who love magazines, like myself, the current issue of Mile High Sports has Ubaldo on the cover, has a Q&A with Hurdle and some other good stuff. Check it out :)

Woo hoo!!!

What a great day! Marquis with the 5-1 win, only giving up the one hit, for the one HR, and pitching the whole game! 3 hits, 3 RBI's 2 stolen bases and 2 homers for Spilly! Excellent work Ryan! And another HR for Brad!

This Is Random...

But I just saw on Rockies All Access that Ian Stewart is a Broncos fan, Dexter Fowler is a Cowboys fan and Chris Iannetta is a Patriots fan.

Ian just gained a whole lot of points in my book!!!! And as sad as this is, poor Chris has lost some. :(

Poll Results and More

So it looks like the majority of us think that Brad Hawpe is the Rockies player most deserving of being sent to the All-Star game.

Also, there is talk that Huston Street is going to be moved back to the closer spot. Thoughts on that anyone?

I don't have too much to say, and it is going to probably be like this until about Friday. I have finals this coming week and then school is over! But I MIGHT post some more on here, but I'm not going to promise.

The Rockies are playing the Giants tonight...Ubaldo Jimenez takes the mound for the Rockies and Randy Johnson for the Giants. We should see Hawpe back in the lineup tonight too.

Go Rockies!

PS--Vote in the new poll!

Blog Hog! :)

I am working on my Diabetic Athletes essay and I just wanted to let you all know that my essay rocks, even if I get a bad grade because I figured out how to put a Rockies player, a former Bronco/current Bear, a former Dodger, and a Cheesehead all in one school assignment. Plus I get to write about sports that I love. I rock!

I needed a non-diabetic athlete to compare to Jason Johnson, to use as an example to explain how diabetic athletes are able to play as long as non-diabetic ones. Well, I found out that Glendon Rusch was the PERFECT pitcher to use. Go me!

Of course Jay is part of this essay. I'm using Aaron Rodgers as his comparison. But my plan is to use pre-diabetes stats, followed by post diagnosis stats, followed then by diabetic athlete to non-diabetic athlete.

I hope to at least get a B on this paper. A B would keep me at either a B+ or A-. I'll let you guys read it after I get done...

Just remembered something, from the first post of this new blog

Katie, you suggested that we reintroduce ourselves on this new blog. So dang it, I'm going to (while avoiding my school work like the naughty girl I become at the end of my classes).

My name is Misty. I live in Colorado. I am a big Rockies fan, I am a Jay Cutler fan (but that is a story for a different sport in a different season). Moving on...

The four Rockies I will be reporting on are: Troy Tulowitzki, Chris Iannetta, Ubaldo Jimenez and Jeff Baker. The non-Rockie that I follow is Evan Longoria, although I've been neglecting him...

About my four Rockies:
Troy Trevor Tulowitzki- October 10, 1984
Position: Shortstop
Bats: right
Throws: right
Jersey number: 2
Major League Debut: August 30, 2006
Random Fact(s): One of his teammates in college was Evan Longoria, and on April 29, 2007 Troy became the thirteenth man to turn an unassisted triple play.

Christopher Domenic Iannetta- April 8, 1983
Position: Catcher
Bats: right
Throws: right
Jersey number: 20
Major League Debut: August 27, 2006
Random Fact: Played third base for one game last season (April 29, 2008) because of an injury to Troy Tulowitzki.

Ubaldo Jimenez- January 22, 2984
Position: Pitcher
Bats: right
Throws: right
Jersey number: 38
Major League Debut: September 26, 2006
Random Fact: Ubaldo can throw a fastball in the high 90s.

Jeffrey Glen Baker- June 21, 1983
Position: Utility player, sometimes second baseman
Bats: right
Throws: right
Jersey number: 10
Major League Debut: April 4, 2005
Random Fact(s): Shares his birthday with Prince William, was born in Germany.

Evan Michael Longoria- October 7, 1985
Position: 3rd base
Team: Tampa Bay Rays
Bats: right
Throws: right
Jersey number: 3
Major League Debut: April 12, 2008
Random Fact(s): Was AL Rookie of the Year for 2008; plays third base because in college Troy played short already, so he got moved to third base.

No picture of Evan taken by me... Yet.

And even though I haven't gotten approval for this, while Jeff Baker is on the DL, I'll be tracking Ian Stewart. He's become a new favorite of mine.

This one I'm just gonna post the link for this one... Short hair, no facial hair is a good look on Ian.

"Little" Ian... Photographer unknown. Photo here...

Ian looks really adorable here:

Game Day... And I was there!

So today was the last game of this series against the San Diego Padres. I had awesome seats... Thank you Tiffany. You are awesomeness, so is Denver Health. And whoever else allows you to get such a great deal on such great seats. Anyway...
I got to Coors really early, well early enough to check out BP. I didn't go anywhere that I could get a ball, just got tons of pictures of Chris, Troy, Clint and Ian. (This time I had lots and lots and lots of pictures of Ian.) I also when to the Rockies store. I purchased a copy of the Rockies Magazine. There are some personal pics of the guys and there is a feature on Huston Street. It's awesome. I got one for Katie also.
Before I go on, I want to mention that Jeff Baker is on the 15 day DL because of a hand sprain (?) or wrist sprain. Either way, I will be following Ian Stewart until Jeffy comes back.
I was in section 147, row 20, seat 9. I loved these seats so much. They are totally awesome. Of course I just love being at Coors Field period. It's so funny, I don't drink; I think that Coors is gross. Yet, I love Coors Field. Coors Field is the only thing I love about Coors.
Ok, game time...
The line-up was "Dex", "Sef Smif" (aka-Seth Smith), "Spilly", Helton, "Stewie", "Tulo", "Barmie", "Netta" and "Cookie". And let me just say, Cookie was awesomeness today. Anyway, the first inning, Cook pitched just 6 pitches I believe. The boys came up and battled. Then it was back to defense. Cook got out of the inning quickly again. Then the boys were back on offense.
I can't remember everything exactly, but I do remember that Troy got caught too far from first and was out. Then with Stewart on third Chris hit a Homerun! (I was on the phone with my finance counselor when this happened. We just hung up as Chris rounded the bases.)
Anyway, just about my boys:
Chris was 2-4: 1 homerun, 3 RBIs, 2 runs. His average is now at .176; and improving.
Troy was 2-4: 1 run, no RBIs. Troy got his average back up to .200. He's improving, slowly but at least his average is rising. (The best news, no injury! Thinking of last season. Unfortunately, no amazing feats either.)
--Totally random but for the month of April Chris and Troy have the same amount of HRs and RBIs.--
Ian was 0-1: 1 run, no RBIs, 2 walks.
--After his homerun today, Chris, Ian and Troy all have 3 homeruns a piece.--

Also totally random, Ian is cute. Just wanted to share. I mean, I got all of the baseball stuff out of the way, so gushing is ok now.

Picture time... My pictures... All taken by me!

Tulo at BP
BP for Stewart (?) with Tulo watching
Stewart "running" bases for BP
Barmes... It looks like he's about to hit Spilly. "Don't do it Clint. It's not worth it." :)

Sef Smif
Aaron and Ian... I just thought this looked cool.
