Scary Moment!

Everyone, please keep Brad Hawpe in your thoughts and prayers! I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we hope he is okay and not too seriously injured.

What happened?!

He was on first, went to steal second and the catcher through the ball. The ball kinda went wild and it hit Brad in the neck. He was taken off the field on the little cart thing. He had on a neck brace, but he walked to the cart.

Latest update says he is at Rose with a possible concussion.

Excuse my typos. I know how to spell THROW but I am kinda freaking out. lol

OMG!!!

That's awful. I hope it is nothing too serious, and he is back with the team ASAP

Oh my goodness!! I hope he's ok!

Thanks for keeping us updated, Katie.

Nurse Tiffany needs to analyze the situation for us! lol

LOL! I would need to assess him to make a diagnosis or to offer my professional judgment! Don't get me started either because I won't shut up. I almost wrote Misty an incredibly long email about diabetes. I think it's fascinating (not GOOD, fascinating in how it affects ALL of your major systems)...see...here I go! Don't get me started on concussions....hahaha. Yep, I'm a nerd. :D

Now wait a minute, if you can give me sources Tiffany, I could use your imput. Actually, I just need to find a non-diabetic pitcher and a non-diabetic athlete that are a lot like Jason Johnson and Jay.
And I am hoping that Brad is OK. The real question is, who is going to take over in right while he's out? I hope that he isn't out for too long.
This really stinks.
And Tiffany, I'm not surprised that you'd want to take care of him. That's our Rockies Nurse...

Brad is a tough guy...let's hope he can come back soon and contribute in a big way. Lucky for the Rox, they have a deep outfield with solid reserves.

On a brighter note, how about Dexter Fowler? Colorado is incredibly lucky to have a future superstar on their hands.

Dexter Fowler has done nothing but IMPRESS me. That kid is amazing. We're blessed to have him.

I can definitely give you whatever info you need Misty. Just let me know! The only thing is, I hope you don't need it tomorrow. haha. I won't be that fast! Still working on the ethics paper....hahah. I might as well face it, I won't have it done until the night before it's due..

What can I say? I like taking care of people, especially in the Rocky Mountain region :D

Tiffany, I have so far, always turned my stuff in at the last hour. Oh course, now I have an "extra" hour since my stuff is due at 12:00 AZ time...
Do you know of any good, credible sites about diabetes, besides diabetes.org? I want to find some facts about diabetes and athletes.

Kap, did it hurt your neck watching it? I think some of the guys, like Todd and Garrett, were feeling his pain.

I don't normally use internet resources, Misty. I like books :D I would offer you my Med/Surg book, but I don't think I'll be seeing you anytime soon. I'll ask some of my other classmates if they have any sites they suggest.

Misty, yep, I flinched like crazy, and the replay just made me feel worse for him

Thanks Tiffany.
I wasn't sure of what exactly happened because the video they showed of it on TV was just too fast. There wasn't a decent angle.
